Al-Muhibbah Foundation (AMF) in collaboration with Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) completed an 18-month project aimed at empowering women through Acha-Fonio cultivation in Bauchi. The project trained fifty women from Tafawa Balewa and Alkaleri Local Government Areas in modern and sustainable farming methods for Acha-Fonio, a climate-resilient and highly nutritious grain.
We provided the beneficiaries with the needed tools for farming, equipment, and money, enabling them to successfully undertake Acha-Fonio farming. The training focused on equipping them with the necessary skills and resources to achieve economic success through sustainable agriculture.
To conclude the project, a 14-day Trade Fair & Agriculture Exhibition 2024 was organized at IBB Square Bauchi, under the theme “Promoting Sustainable Agriculture and Economic Growth.” The Trade Fair served as the culmination phase of the training program, providing a platform for these women to create market linkages and connect with potential buyers outside their immediate communities.
The exhibition showcased the achievements of the trained women, allowing them to display their agricultural products, establish relationships with marketers, and inspire others to pursue sustainable farming practices. This event reinforced the project’s objective of enhancing the economic prosperity of women through improved market access.
